About Us

Our Story

Welcome to The Eclectic Mix, a dream that has been 20 plus years in the making. I have been gathering antiques, collectables, vintage and other unique items of interest for as long as I can remember, always dreaming of one day opening my own vintage style shop. When COVID-19 hit, I found myself stood down from my retail management job as I was not considered an essential worker. Home for 13 weeks, I found myself with plenty of time on my hands and many half finished upcycling projects around my house. So I put myself to work and went about finishing off some projects which I then sold online. I continued collecting items over the next two years and after outgrowing my double garage and spare bedroom for storage of my collection at home, I rented a storage shed. Pretty soon the storage shed was completely full. All the while I had been searching for the perfect location to open my dream store. Trust me, I’ve looked at heaps, however nothing jumped out at me as being the right location.

Fast forward to March 2022, Shop 3/65 Edith Street, a little shop that I looked at when it was available at the beginning of the pandemic, was back on the market. The time was right, the location was perfect, and having a strong connection to the area having grown up in Manly and Wynnum and now living in the nearby Redlands, opening a store in this community with my husband has been a fabulous decision - everyone has been so warm and receptive! While my dream never included food and drinks, the foundations were there, so I’ve gone with it and the vintage items with coffee and cake complement each other perfectly. My heart is absolutely full with the outpouring of positive feedback from everyone who has visited. My favourite part is hearing all of the stories people share about bygone days and the memories that come flooding back as a result of items in store. So many have visited and returned with parents or grandparents for a coffee and cake, bringing to life memories that take them back to their childhood. The large table in the back section of the shop has been amazing for listening to stories shared between customers who have never met each other before, but who connect over memories brought back by vintage items they remember from the homes of their parents and grandparents. I love that my little dream is bringing people together and I hope you enjoy it too.

Our Eclectic Product Range

At The Eclectic Mix we appreciate the quality,  craftsmanship and sentimentality attached to items of eras past. Furthermore, we are committed to saving these works of art from landfill due to imperfections caused by age or where they have become surplus to their owner’s needs. To this end, many of our products have been refurbished or repurposed and are oozing with charm and character - we like to call this upcycling. We stock antique, retro, vintage, shabby chic, upcycled and new furniture, homewares, glass, china, collectables, clothing and many other one-off and unique pieces. We look forward to you visiting in store to see our collection.
